Orthodoxy for Kids Launches New Animated Series for Young Children

Thank you to The Orthodox Observer for interviewing Eva Poneros, Esq., President of Orthodoxy for Kids, and for helping share the heart behind this mission.

In their feature, The Orthodox Observer introduces Sophia, our new animated series created to give young children (about ages 3–8) a warm, engaging, Orthodox introduction to the faith in a format that actually fits how kids learn today. The whole idea is simple: “Learning Orthodoxy Can Be Fun.” Sophia is meant to supplement, not replace, what children learn in church and Sunday School, by giving families something they can easily revisit at home.

The article speaks directly to the reality many families feel: schedules are packed, the world is loud, and kids are growing up on screens—so if we want to reach them, we have to meet them where they are with content that’s joyful, loving, and firmly rooted in authentic Orthodox teaching. Sophia is designed especially with young families in mind, including those navigating mixed-faith households, busy work lives, and modern secular pressures—and it can be a helpful resource for parents of children with disabilities, too.

What does Sophia cover? All the beautiful building blocks of Orthodox life: prayers, hymns, feast days, sacraments, monastic life, and the everyday rhythm of the Church—shared in a way that’s approachable, memorable, and age-appropriate.

One of the sweetest moments in the article is the response from The Cathedral School in New York, where Sophia was introduced to students in December 2025 and was met with immediate excitement and warmth. It’s exactly what we hope for: planting seeds of faith early, with simplicity, wonder, and joy.
