Orthodoxy for Kids Thanks Community Following Successful Soft Launch of “Sophia” Animated Series

New nonprofit children’s ministry celebrates early support, media features, family engagement, and upcoming faith-based back-to-school initiatives

Fort Lee, New Jersey — July 2, 2026 — Orthodoxy for Kids, the nonprofit organization behind the new animated children’s series Sophia, is extending heartfelt thanks to the Orthodox faithful, families, educators, donors, and media partners who helped support and share its mission during the organization’s soft launch.

Orthodoxy for Kids was created to bring the beauty, traditions, and teachings of the Orthodox Christian faith to young children ages 3-8 in a joyful, age-appropriate, and relatable way. Through short animated videos, downloadable activities, coloring books, and family-centered resources, the organization seeks to help children learn that “Learning Orthodoxy Can Be Fun.”

The Sophia animated series was designed especially for young children, parents, and Sunday School teachers who are looking for Orthodox Christian content that feels familiar, engaging, and easy to use at home, in the classroom, and in parish life. The Orthodox Observer described Orthodoxy for Kids as a nonprofit offering web-based Orthodox Christian education for young children and noted that Sophia is intended to supplement, not replace, parish-based religious education.  Hellenic News of America also highlighted the project’s goal of helping Orthodox families bring faith home through short, memorable lessons.

“We are deeply grateful for the response Sophia has received from families, educators, parish communities, and supporters,” said the Orthodoxy for Kids team. “What began as a need for more Orthodox content for young children has become a growing ministry of love, creativity, and faith. Every share, every donation, every encouraging message, and every photo of a child using our materials reminds us why this mission matters.”

Orthodoxy for Kids extends special thanks to Leadership 100 for its generous $75,000 grant support, which helped make the launch of Sophia possible. The grant helped the nonprofit complete its launch, formalize operations, and create Sophia at the quality level envisioned. That support has helped lay the foundation for a growing library of Orthodox children’s resources.

The organization also thanks The Orthodox Observer and The Hellenic News of America for featuring Sophia and helping share the mission with a broader audience. These articles have helped introduce Orthodoxy for Kids to more families, educators, parishes, and Orthodox communities, while also increasing awareness and social media engagement. The Orthodox Observer article invited readers to learn more and follow Orthodoxy for Kids on TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram at @OrthodoxyforKids.

Orthodoxy for Kids is also grateful to every follower across its social media channels who has watched, shared, commented, prayed for, and encouraged the ministry. The organization gives special thanks to the parents, grandparents, godparents, Sunday School teachers, and educators who have sent photos of children enjoying the Easter Lenten coupons, and coloring activity sheets.

The soft launch included several key efforts: the Sophia teaser video, the Christmas video, and the Easter Lenten coupon and coloring book activities. Each of these resources was created to give families and teachers simple, faith-filled ways to keep Orthodoxy present in a child’s daily life.

As summer approaches, Orthodoxy for Kids encourages families to continue bringing faith into everyday moments, especially while traveling. Families are invited to visit an Orthodox church while on vacation, talk with children about a favorite saint, print a Sophia coloring sheet before a trip, and share photos of the child and Sophia with Orthodoxy for Kids on social media. These small moments can help children understand that Orthodoxy is not only something they experience on Sundays, but a living faith that travels with them wherever they go.

Looking ahead, Orthodoxy for Kids will be promoting a new back-to-school effort for September 2026, including a Back-to-School and Book Bag Blessings Kit. We are grateful to The Pittsburgh Foundation for its support of Orthodoxy for Kids through a $10,000 grant announced in late June 2026 that will be funding the kit. The proposed kit may include Sophia stickers, a coloring activity book, and a “quick prayer” book bag prayer card to help children begin each school day with faith, comfort, and confidence.

These efforts are part of a broader vision for future “Sophia Pray & Go” resources, educational videos, and family-friendly Orthodox materials that can be used by parents at home and by Sunday School teachers in preschool and elementary classrooms.

However, Orthodoxy for Kids emphasizes that continued growth depends entirely on donations from Orthodox organizations, parishes, families, grandparents, godparents, friends, and followers who believe in the mission.

High-quality animation, educational resource development, printed materials, digital outreach, and future Sophia initiatives all require ongoing support. As noted by Hellenic News of America, producing additional episodes depends on donor funding, and animation remains one of the most significant expenses in bringing this mission to life. Contributions directly help Orthodoxy for Kids create new videos, original scripts, downloadable activities, classroom resources, seasonal kits, new characters, new scenery, and future faith-based content for young Orthodox children and their families.

Significant donations or sponsorships can make an especially meaningful impact by helping fund the creative and production talent needed to continue expanding the world of Sophia. Donors interested in making a large contribution are also welcome to discuss naming opportunities for future characters, either in their own name or in honor or memory of a loved one, as a lasting expression of appreciation for their support.

As Orthodoxy for Kids continues to grow, its videos and educational resources will remain fully inclusive, pan-Orthodox, and created for faithful families around the globe. Through Sophia, the organization hopes to help children not only learn about the Orthodox Christian faith, but also understand the beauty of God’s love through kindness, compassion, respect, and inclusion. Future stories will gently introduce children to the importance of caring for one another, including friends with special needs, learning differences, and unique challenges, reminding every child that we are all called to be faithful, loving, inclusive, and respectful members of the Church family.

Orthodox children are growing up in a world filled with screens, fast-moving entertainment, and constant distractions. Orthodoxy for Kids seeks to meet children where they are by offering content that is wholesome, beautiful, joyful, and rooted in Orthodox Christian teaching. For parents, Sophia offers a gentle way to reinforce faith at home. For Sunday School teachers, it provides relatable content that helps younger students connect with lessons about prayer, feast days, saints, sacraments, and the life of the Church.

Most importantly, Sophia gives children a familiar Orthodox friend who helps make faith feel present, understandable, and loved.

“At a time when families are looking for meaningful ways to keep Orthodoxy at the center of their children’s lives, Sophia is helping plant seeds of faith,” the organization shared. “We want children to see their faith as something joyful, familiar, and part of who they are. With the support of our community, Sophia can continue to grow into a trusted resource for homes, classrooms, and parishes.”

Orthodoxy for Kids invites families, educators, parishes, Orthodox organizations, and supporters to visit OrthodoxyForKids.com, follow @OrthodoxyForKids on social media, share the ministry with others, and consider making a donation to support future videos and educational resources.

Together, the Orthodox community can help ensure that young children have access to faith-based content that speaks to their hearts, supports their families, and keeps the joy of Orthodoxy alive for the next generation.
